We don’t badger or embarrass our patients about what shape their mouth is in, or how long they’ve gone without dental treatment, or their nervousness about any perceived self-neglect, etc.  We see our job as educating patients with all the information they need to make decisions for their oral health, explaining all the options, and the pros and cons of each. Dr. Shapiro firmly believes that adults should make their own informed decisions in a friendly, non-judgmental atmosphere.

We mean that literally. When treating patients we now have an air evacuation system that is positioned inches from the mouth, removing aerosols and exhaled breath from the treatment zone. That air is then processed through carbon filters HEPA filters UV-C lights and a plasma generating ionizing chamber, removing nearly 100% of the pathogens and particles, before returning the cleansed air to the room.

And that is just one of the multiple levels and layers of safety and protection protocols in our office, ranging from simple common sense steps and precautions to high-end innovative state-of-the-art technology.

Dr. Shapiro graduated from Emory University’s prestigious School of Dentistry and has been practicing in Little 5 Points for over 30 years. The Georgia Board of Dentistry has engaged him for many years as an Independent Outside Consultant, to evaluate the competence and quality of treatment being rendered by other Dentists in the state. He is constantly keeping up with the latest information, procedures and techniques in Dentistry, spending numerous hours each year in continuing education. For many years he has been an Atlanta Magazine’s Top Dentists In Atlanta, 5 Star Dentist. He is a member in good standing of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association and the American Academy of the History of Dentistry (click here to tour our Dental Museum).

We do not keep patients waiting either in the reception room or in the dental chair. Your appointment time is reserved for you. We respect your time and will not waste it! (But, our patients do not get to complain about our admittedly lousy magazine selection—no time to read when you don’t have to wait)

We treat only one patient at a time! Your appointment time is exclusively for you. There is no running back and forth between 4 or 5 patients in different rooms. Dr. Shapiro prides himself on the level of personalized service we provide. He believes that the best care can be given when the Dentist is not dividing his attention over several patients undergoing different procedures at the same time.

Dr. Shapiro is, and has been, the one and only one Dentist in our practice. No revolving door of new doctors treating you every few visits. He even cleans your teeth himself, gathering even more information on you and your mouth during that additional contact. Dr. Shapiro personally knows you and your entire treatment history at our office.

Providing superior care in a warm friendly atmosphere with maximum comfort is the heart of Dr. Shapiro’s practice philosophy. Dr. Shapiro provides beautiful cosmetic treatment, the highest quality restorative procedures, as well as preventive care. He also believes in a conservative approach to treatment—that is to always try the least invasive, least intensive, least expensive and least aggressive treatment options possible. He is conservative about radiation exposure as well, recommending x-rays only every two to two and a half years for most patients. There is no up-selling, over-treatment or speculative pre-emptive treatments—“If it isn't broken, we won’t fix it!”

Yes, fun. We spend a lot of time one-to-one with each patient, and a good portion of that time is often spent talking, and joking, and joking some more, and catching up with each other.
